Currents of Practice 2025 Book

A$25.00

The Currents of Practice 2025 publication is now available.
This inaugural edition captures the artists, reflections and ecological conversations that shaped last year’s World Wetlands Day Exhibition and Public program at Coolart Wetlands. It holds the work, the care and the shared momentum that made the project what it was, and what it’s becoming.

Creating a publication like this felt essential: a way to honour the artists, document the place-based practices, and carry these insights forward as we build toward the 2026 edition. Proceeds from this year’s book will support the production costs of the 2026 e-book and paperback, helping to sustain the project’s growth and accessibility.

Designed with generosity and precision by Hamish Payne.

Currents of Practice is an annual exhibition and public program situated at Coolart Wetlands and Homestead on Bunurong Boon Wurrung Country. Bringing together contemporary artists, ecologists, and community, the project uses creative practice to engage with wetlands as living cultural landscapes, foregrounding care, listening, and place-based knowledge in the context of World Wetlands Day.

The Currents of Practice 2025 Book is a follow-up publication that documents the inaugural exhibition as it unfolded. It brings together exhibition photography, artist reflections, and curatorial writing to record temporary and site-specific works that existed only for the duration of the program. Designed as a lasting archive rather than the primary exhibition outcome, the book allows the project to be revisited beyond the site, serving as a record for artists, collaborators, and readers interested in contemporary exhibition practice and place-based work.
